Welcome to the City of Marysville, Kansas
Marysville Kansas is the county seat of Marshall County located in Northeast Kansas at the intersection of two US highways – US36 and US75.
Marysville is the site of the only remaining Pony Express Home Station along the Pony Express Trail. Early settlers headed west would stop at Alcove Springs about 6 miles south of Marysville to rest and enjoy the clear, cool water that supplied weary travelers. They continued north to Marysville and forded the Blue River at Frank Marshall’s ferry located at the Shibley Knoll on the west edge of Marysville. The ill-fated Donner Party spent time at Alcove Springs before heading west towards Utah.
Marysville has a Mayor-Council-Administrator form of government and a council consisting of eight council members elected from Wards for a 4-year term and a Mayor elected for a two-year term. Fire protection is provided by a volunteer fire department serving Marysville and three surrounding townships.
